Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 things like this make you not so proud to feel British, instead of throwing money in to food banks and folk who will not get off their a--e they should give it to folk like this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2284673/World-War-Two-heros-family-forced-sell-medals-pay-heros-care-home-fees.html
Guest IB Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 It is a sad fact of life for many infirm people facing care in a home in their old age that they are being asked to pay for that care, often through a charge amounting to tens of thousands of pounds on their house, to be sold after their death to repay that debt. I had believed care was included in the National Insurance I've been paying for all my working days, but I've since discovered I'll be in exactly the same boat as the person featured in your Article, as are many others. When younger folk talk about costs of care for 'older' folk, they seem to forget these people have already paid up front for it.

geordie1234 Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Seems like the only retired servicemen to get a golden handshake are the police...
Dooheed 5 Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Really does make ye feel sick especially when ye look at the new prison that has cost millions that they've built up here in Peterhead to hoose low life scum !! its totally all wrong !!
alex wight Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 The truth of the matter is, that Britain no longer looks after the british. Its high time that Britain realised, that what we have today, is the result of the sacrifices that these heroes gave. As an ex serviceman, it sickens me to the core how this country has descended into a hostel for others, and treats its own country men and women in an appalling way. Very sad.

One hopes thou My Gold card etc here, gives me a better quality of life compared to his, if I'm fortunate enough to reach his age type of thing.Enjoy
