walterboswell59 Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 gazz ive seen this happen before if you put birds togethere then get a cold snap as we did around christmas and first few days in the new year it knocks the birds right back this happened to me 2years ago and some pairs did not lay till end of feb and march and then only after i split them again for one week and gave them plenty hemp seed they went down two weeks later that why i now have heating in my stock loft makes a big difference if you can keep the temp up early on when its cold just till they lay m8 hope this helps

paddymac Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 ty m8 ive just checked there just now got 10 eggs so see what happens with that first so fingers crossed I get something lol but def not raceing this yearGazza there is still plenty of time to get a team of Ybs ready for racing, I haven't even got my birds paired yet. If those 10 eggs all hatch your off to a good start and they'll be a few more to follow. This is a lot better than having an overload of Yb's you gather up to start with and end up with the usual problems with over crowding

Did you keep them on the hungry side before letting out ? Would have thought with having access to aviary they could have had a good look around though.Any more info?
