Guest snowy2011 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Hi been having a discussion with a few club m8s on flying the natural system, for the longer races would like some other opinions...When flying the natural system do u need to change your loft around.Having it all open just doweled windows or wire protected from the rain. And Not just having widowhood boxes in the loft? Be great to hear so e of your views. Many thanks 😀
paddymac Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 As long as the lofts are well ventilated and the birds are happy in their environment and healthy all you need then is a system that suits both yourself and the birds. Not all fanciers can have their birds on open hole all year round so find a system that suits you and the birds and hopefully you'll be competing at the top with other members of your club and even on the Fed result. Best of luck with your plans whatever way you decide snowy

Guest snowy2011 Posted January 21, 2014 Report Posted January 21, 2014 Sory I ment the loft having a open front like the olden days,, wire fronts in stead of Perspex windows .
paddymac Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I have perspex on the front of my lofts at the moment snowy but it is only put up during the winter months to keep the lofts dry from all the driving winds and heavy showers that usually come throughout the winter. I usually take the perspex down again at the end of March and open the lofts up until November comes around again. The important thing about an open loft is to ensure that it is sheltered enough to keep the loft dry.
walterboswell59 Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 like pat i have perspex up on the stock lofts when breeding early to keep the chill factor down but the racing sections are wide open with dowls amost half way up the front of the loft imo you dont get false condition on the birds when the lofts open as long as its dry and they will improve naturaly as the weather heats up and be in better condition for the longer races in the summer months and i dont want my birds to peak to early but everyone has different ideas also i have pigeon lung so a closed up loft is no good to me
