kaybee Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Can anyone reccomend a camera for taking photos of the birds eyes
DOVEScot Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 I use a Fuji finepix fd50 pr the Fuji s5000 the main thing you need is a good macro facility and a back light but not shining directly into the eye, good daylight is the best but artificial light now that winter is here Try high definition then you can blow the size up and still keep the detail, the higher the ISO the less light it needs but becomes grainy when you blow it up, lower ISO for great light conditions
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 yea but im old how can i understand this jargon
DOVEScot Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 yea but im old how can i understand this jargon The same way we have to decipher yours, it's no easy :)
pjc Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Agree Dovey, got to have a good macro lens. Whatever light source you use will show/reflect in the eye due to the eye being a lens itself! Phil

Phil Just don't shine the light directly into the eye, also a constant bright light will shrink the pupil and get you better results, that is why you get bad red eye in most pics due to flash photography as the pupil is dilated to let maximum light in and drink does the same thing :)
pjc Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 just for Chris, this is what happens when you zoom in from a norm pic!
DOVEScot Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 corse you would god all eyes are eyes You should have gone to Spec savers ;D ;D ;D

just ask me Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 Just don't shine the light directly into the eye, also a constant bright light will shrink the pupil and get you better results, that is why you get bad red eye in most pics due to flash photography as the pupil is dilated to let maximum light in and drink does the same thing :) by shrinking the pupil are u noting showing the true size of the pupil which some pll in eye sign find very important
DOVEScot Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 by shrinking the pupil are u noting showing the true size of the pupil which some pll in eye sign find very important You will not shrink it that much as you are not shining directly into the eye, when I say a bright light it is one you need a bright enough light to show the detail but enough to stop the pupil dilating, you won't get good results with flash photography or dim lighting
ChrisMaidment08 Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 You will not shrink it that much as you are not shining directly into the eye, when I say a bright light it is one you need a bright enough light to show the detail but enough to stop the pupil dilating, you won't get good results with flash photography or dim lighting you do in my game
pjc Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 A ring flash is ok as long as the main lighting is reasonable as well so the pupil is at normal dilation.

Taylorsloft Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 canon S5 IS powershot 8 MP £229 look at the eyesign on here and see the photos i took
DOVEScot Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 A ring flash is ok as long as the main lighting is reasonable as well so the pupil is at normal dilation. Ring flashes are brilliant but they tend to be more used by professional photographers as the good ones are expensive and not suitable for most digital cameras
pjc Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 not the kind of ring your thinking of Chris! Great for photgraphing small objects for catologueing etc
Gaz Jennings Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 these are a couple taken in not so good light by a kodak 7megapixel digital camera,40 quid argos :) :)
