I know how you feel Walter I put a post up at the weekend I had 6 returned hawked and i am still 4 missing from a 66ml race on saturday,Thats half my team out of action. I was watering my garden last night when I heard the strange screeching cominig from the woods about 400mtrs away I stood and watched and there it was a hen sparrowhawk tryiing to encourage 2 of her young out of the woods .What chance do my birds have now They will only leave the loft now with me in a basket. As you said Walter is there a future in pigeon racing Unless there is a holy mirical Cant see by the trees

Now we know how the Christians felt when they were thrown to the Lions . ""That's what we are doing with our birds ""

I took 40 ybs for their 8th toss about 20 mls they had beaten me home the the previous days, I set them off at 3-50, and sat in garden waiting at 7pm I got worried at 8-10 1 arrived on its own , from then till 10-20 they dropped in singles and doubles. 1 arrived with no tail and 1 with leg nearly detached another with a puncture wound in its side . 16 missing , is this really worth it?????? :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang:

let my 2nd round yb out this after noon 70 of them at 1pm as normal , they went round behind hill at back of loft but never came back round 4half hours latter a batch returned and two off them with seconerie wings out and one ripped down side of legs another got hole in side and brocken leg . A 2yr old cock and his hen had went out with them the hen arrived a few hours latter the cock is still awol along with 25 young uns , bassa percie has been into them and thats the first time this yr with young uns , the 2nd round have only been on wing from 10 days to 2 days for some , the batch that came back wings were trailing fkn nackered so they were :emoticon-0179-headbang: :emoticon-0179-headbang:

What a day in this heat

Birds started working in 1 and 2's from 3-30 till 7-45

Very lucky only one down that's eleven hours out for the last of them defo went to ground as fresh as paint

Although 2x part wing 1x two tail feathers left

2x puncture wounds one I had to stitch

Will now go sight seeing in the morning leave the birds at home to settle .

This is not a solution to our ongoing problem of BOP's. In the close season i.e. October to February no racing pigeons free flying, the raptors have to eat , so hopefully they change their diet to something other than doos. When racing is on they have to get trained etc. but not in winter. I like others lose birds every year but you can't fight this war on your own, we need to make a collective effort, what are your thoughts..........!!!!!!!!?????
