alex wight Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Does the SNFC accept ets printouts of arrivals?? The reason i ask is at the Fife marking station, the guys are having to copy the details from the printout onto the same sheets used for manual clocks. The marking station opened just before 8.15pm, and the last clock (x50 approx) was done at 10.40pm, with the delay caused by writing out ets details. Surely if theres going to be an error involving ets clocks, its going to be when the information is being transferred. So the question is, does the SNFC accept ets printouts as a copy of the arrivals? If not why not? any help is welcomed.
andy Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Agree with you, I've commented on this before, a waste of time re-writing an ETS print-out. Was told thats what we've always done its the rules! Madness!

Seems bizarre that this is the case. hey ho.
Henrik Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 End of the day they have to be written out as the rules stand and only way to change it is for a proposal to be put forward at the AGM.

Henrik Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Could also be a recommendation from the management committee Bobby.Tried that didnt work needs a proposal.
Guest IB Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 It was raised twice at Committee this year. The reason given is that the race results programme was written with the clock sheet format as the data input form (hope that makes sense think of it as the computer screen display looks much the same as the clock sheet) and its just a straight transfer of all the data from it to the computer. I reckon that could be done direct from ets to a computer race programme but updating the existing computer race programme is not seen as a priority given the current financial climate. But I sense you are actually asking a different question. YES it is needed by the Secy., NO it isn't needed by the member - his/her ets arrivals printout is all he/she needs. I get my hand-written copy at the end of the year.
Delboy Posted June 26, 2013 Report Posted June 26, 2013 Complete nonsense and waste of committees time.I said at SNFC meetings often that this was crazy, the sec said he wanted it that way because he could read it better. Basically somebodys handwriting is preferred over a professional printout. The fact of the matter, imo, is the sec isn't familiar with reading all the different ets printouts.Crazy stuff

No computer program needs changed, only needs the secretary to change and adapt.

Its absolutely crazy to write possibly 12 doos thats already printed on A4. When sheet of paper is printed all that is required is for the clock checker to write down the distance that the fancier has written on the card and also his official number of the SNFC, unless this is already included within his personal details on the print out.
knoxjn Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 think the national needs a step back and to take a look at it self get the people on the committee to sort out all the madness like the ets printouts and the fact that we hve to use wicker baskets etc are these rules if they are where are they the meeting this year was a shambles the transportation is as bad as ever another long holdover with birds being fed on top of droppings we need to get a grip as i think this once great club is now a joke sorry for moaning but these races were the be all and end all for me not any more my week to week racing was geared around these races not now self interest seems to hold sway now

I wont be changing it cos I wont be there next year, 2 races gone and I,ve had enough of it next year in stand about blethering at the top of my voice, then home again, same at clocks hey ho nothing to worry about and wont need to take the fone out the wall either to get a sleep.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Agree with both last comments, its time that more decisions are taken by the body of the hall at a agm, self interest at committee level is holding this club back.

Remember what Harry Truman said Henrik. If you don't like the heat stay out of the kitchen
Henrik Posted June 27, 2013 Report Posted June 27, 2013 Remember what Harry Truman said Henrik. If you don't like the heat stay out of the kitchenWalter, never a truer word said, but I think I,ve had enough now, finish what I started this year then sit back and let them get on with it. By the way I,m not quite old enough to remember him saying this but I,ve heard it plenty
