Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 We sometimes wonder why more pigeons never get reported maybe this is one reason, my wife was at the special needs center the other day to see her sister who is mentally handicapped and was talking to one of the ladies there and she told Liz that they had a stray pigeon in last week and they fed it and watered it and Liz asked her why they never reported it to the RPRA to find out who owned it and the lady said they would never report pigeons as she had been told if they are reported and sent back to their owners they will just kill it,the public do seem to have a bad perception of fanciers in general, food for thought
geordie1234 Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 Maybe a the unions should come up with a marketing strategy to highlight that the biggest MAJORITY of doo men would welcome their pigeons reported and that we spend hours upon hours per day caring for our pigeons and spending a lot off money giving them the best feed we can. At the same time highlight what's happening to our pigeons via bop
Guest geordiejen Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 ive heard this before also, what can you do if someone is telling the public this.although not all fanciers will do this but i know that some do.
andyyy Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 I had a bird reported last year we fetched it back and the lady thought id dispose of it, last week the same lady emailed me as she has another stray and doesn't want to report it as it'll be disposed of, i made sure i corrected her and told her that most people are fearful to get them back
Guest GAV Posted June 13, 2013 Report Posted June 13, 2013 people that dispose of pigeons just because they end up somewhere else, shouldnt keep pigeons imo 1 reason they dont know and will never know the trauma the poor bird has suffered inbetween times, just look at all the birds that do return ripped to shreds for 1 reason or another, everything deserves a second chance.
