Guest bigda Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 i believe we in the west should be flying from the west, and those in the east fly east, going west would be the best option left open to us now, we would have the route all to ourself once more, we have had high velocity's from it more so, than flying east, most of our birds get killed passing 4 powerstaions in the east, 3 quarry's, and a radio frequency jammer at airports, and controlled disturbance along the Livingstone area, we don't have so many power stations in the west that we have to pass. it will not affect the national result should we fly west as it is normally birds that fly west get and win the Nat sections, hope there is a good turn out at the next AGM to shake the monkey of our back and get back to flying now down the west, i have given the east a chance to deliver better racing, and it has failed miserably. is there no one in the federation able to speak out about these losses we are having young bird racing is going to be twice as hard as old bird racing, and it has nothing to do with hours on the wing, as it don't matter if your bird has 3 gold awards the result is, it wont make it flying down the east to often. the strike rate just now is about 400 per race from the bop per 1,000 doos racing but we are not getting 600 birds back from every 1,000 sent as most dive into trees wires with sheer panic and we might be lucky now to get 400 per 1,000 home from each race and if fanciers would state there true losses then it would be easy to work out, where the massacre has taken place most weeks.
Guest bigda Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 400 birds making it home from every 1,000 sent, should we await, till its 200 per 1,000 getting home of the 400 60 will have feathers missing, and to add if that ain't a warning to you all, well the racing will finish within 2 yearstake note how many rings are issued this year for young birds, and then add up what you have left, and these young birds do not show up as streeters that i can assure you. it is said it takes 360 birds to rare a good nest. well i know there are about 6,000 pairs in the UK now and if they get lucky they can eat 12,000 in a morning at 2 a day 24,000 birds gone quicker than they can be reproduced
