my youngsters,were early bred december/january.

most of them are flying up to an hour and a half,

and some are going into breeding mode

im toying with parting the sexes, and free flying them split..

err but.....bet you if i did so,they would not excercise so vigouresley.

or free fly ALL TOGETHER,then split em again.next week im going to start

them down the road anyways, then i know their free exercice will indeed decrease.

thanks for looking

The more sexually mature they get the less they exercise. If you plan on training heavy up to and during racing I would leave them together. The advantages of this is you can get them sitting eggs, this combined with the heavy training will slow down the moult consequently they'll last longer into the season. On the other hand if you can only train them say once a week they'd exercise better if split.

Some are STILL heavy in there body moult, they have been on the dark since weaned,

yet others look like yearlings.

im only taking them very steady with there training..5,10,miles loads of them.

and maybe, two 25 milers tues/wednesday twice a week when racing,

in intervals of groups of 5 :)

Time to let the sun on their backs if ou want them to moult in time for the y/b season.

As for splitting or keping together the simple answer is 'What do you want to be doing in 1 year as yearlings and then 2 years onwards.

Are you going to be flying widowerhood or natural etc.

Thet need a bonding of and love of home and contentment ....

I only race youngbirds,

at the end of the season, even those that have scored and runners up have to go.

Apart from the odd ones, that go for stock!

Hi Stuart

I did this last year.

Lot of hard work mate, after every trainer I was splitting them etc.

Went on a couple of loft visits to well known successful fanciers, both said I must like making work for myself.

let them pair, lay whatever, if during racing they are not performing then split them on a Monday and let them together again Friday morning, seems to reinvigorate
