showman Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Hi folks.I'm going to taking delivery of my first 4 young birds very soon. These are to be future stock birds, so will never be in a basket. As I see it, my main priority is to have them develop physically to their maximum potential, so envisage using a mixture much higher in protein than carbohydrates. Was looking at Versela Laga Liege mixture and it struck me as being what I want. Just wondered has anyone used this mixture in its' 'pure' state and not mixed it with anything else, and what do you think of it?
Tony C Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Liege would be ok as would a breeding mix. The most important thing is to make sure they eat the larger grains from day one, sieve the small seeds/grains out of your mixture for the first week.
Wiley Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Liege mixture is ideal, we use it for our youngsters in the nest. To also help them grow, brewers yeast on the grain once or twice a week, and grit and minerals always available. If there healthy they'll grow in to fine specimens just that way, however were they'll be none flying stock you must watch there weight.
