First race marked tonight 198 pigeons away from 7 members of Lockerbie .It is a 44 mile round trip for me (and Yeboah) to travel from Moffat to Fechan to race mark pigeons followed by a 30 mile round trip on a Saturday to get the result,a total of 74 miles each weekend until early September is it dedication or isit insanity?

If you go in ONE car, its dedication, if you's go individually am afraid there might be nae hope for you's Walter

Walter travels down on a friday night by himself john with all the computer gear etc ,I pick up another 2 members from Wamphray in my van,Come Saturday we all travel to Lockerbie in one car driven by Walter or myself The secrecy as to who has clocked the best bird is a joy to behold M15 would be proud of us  The Joy of one of us producing a champion bird during the season far outways the cost of Petrol costs :emoticon-0167-beer: Band of Brothers .

I think it may be more a sign of the times with fewer local clubs and greater distances to travel to marking. Never really thought about it till now, I have only been in 3 local clubs, and they have all been within easy walking distance of where I lived at the time. My first was the furthest walk, back when I was a teenager, maybes half a mile. Don't remember anyone driving to the marking station back then and the only 'wheels' parked outside the hut were of the bogie and pram variety.
