I think we've suffered being part of UK., and made to look like a nation dependent on handouts from the treasury, unable to to stand on our own two feet - and folk here now believe that. Folk tend to think of what they have (or haven't) now rather than what we could have in the future. Stuck on coal, oil and gas which won't last forever. Windfarms, if they are useless why are they sprouting up all over the place? It's the future we should be looking too, and we should be there designing, manufacturing and selling it before anybody else even thinks about it. An example of that is that is coal, oil and gas industries of the future. Scotland had the world's first oil refinery at Bathgate. Addiewell was the world's largest oil refinery. All gone now underpriced by the American oilfields. Now they are running out, and what is to replace them? Shale, the stuff that our industry was founded on, but processed in an entirely new way. And who is providing USA with the technology? A firm in Cathcart, Glasgow.
