I dont know for sure, purely guesswork here but I'd say no. If it were me I'd train them very hard leading up to the 2 week shut down then once on shut down feed up to 70% Barley, also miss a days feed a couple of times within them two weeks.

Your thoughts or advice please if i were to put my young on the dark race the first two youngbird races then lock them up for two weeks would this trigger the body moult http://pigeon-chat.co.uk/images/smilies/icon_question.gif

theres a reason why you will be locking them up for 2 weeks ?? what is it Bern ? if you have somebody else looking after them as long as the doors are open daily for light and air i dont think it will make a great deal of difference .have you read about the "double darkness" system ,might be worth a shot :emoticon-0138-thinking::animatedpigeons:

not a full body moult but by resting and taking the strees of racing and flying off they will start to drop wind flights but not the covers till 4th flight :emoticon-0167-beer: :emoticon-0167-beer:

Perhaps taking them off the dark a week or two later than the norm.
