sapper756 Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Just out of interest, if you were sending a youngster to compete in a One Loft Race, would you send a young cock or a young hen? and why? Thankshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/animatedpigeons.gif
Wiley Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Young hen. The younger the better also. I find locally and from experience young hens race better then young cocks generally and are more consistant, I don't follow one loft past race winners so couldn't say what sex has the lead.
johnc Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 young cock i dont know if they are split, if not there will be a lot of young hens laying in the panniers
geordie1234 Posted February 25, 2013 Report Posted February 25, 2013 Cock for me wouldny like hunners of darkness cocks chasing the hen
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 young cock i dont know if they are split, if not there will be a lot of young hens laying in the panniersLike you, i would prefer a cock due to the chance of a young hen being eggy at the time of the big race. That said, The Scottish one loft pigeon race will be separating the cocks and hens 3 weeks before the big race, so i may now change my mind and send hens.
johnc Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 i wonder what will happen if they all arrive together they may struggle to get them in
johnc Posted February 26, 2013 Report Posted February 26, 2013 sorry gereth i just noticed you said before the big race

Tony C Posted February 27, 2013 Report Posted February 27, 2013 I would take my chances with hens, young cocks get to excitable..................... at the end of the day they've gotta be there for the final race.
