tonythetree Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 I'm just mulling over the internal layout of my new loft it started life as a 12x6 shed, i'm just about to put a tiled roof on it. I've got 12 van reet young birds on order for Feb. I'm after a bit of input is 12x6 too small for 3 sections? Come the end of 2013 season am I looking at another loft to split old and young birds upTony

Guest darren cantrill Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 hi mate we started this year with a 7 by 5 converted shed and was sufficent we now have two 12 by 6 sheds im quite tall and am finding it a bit of a pain getting in and out of both sections in each so my friend think 3 sections in a 12 by 6 is going to be tight and theres nothing worse that not being comfortable when cleaning out etc and im forever knocking the bloody water over
Fly_caster Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 I don't think that you will need 3 sections if you are only putting a team of youngsters in there, two should do you until later in the season when you say you might have some old birds to house. In the meantime, two sections will allow you to separate the birds (Cocks and hens) and use the "sliding door" method to motivate them for racing. You could also pair them up later in the YB season and fly them to partner / eggs / hatchlings / large YB ? Plenty of room for that many bords and max. 2 sections needed I would say ! ATB with them, Steve
