Naw George, they will be fine in first races too but wont compete with the darkies or lighties unless its a sunny easy flying day. They should be finishing the BIG MOULT by the time the 4th race comes , even better if the racing is put back a week or 2.

I paired up the 1st saturday in march this year so my yb's are'nt too old although i had a few 2 weeks before my own were out the nest from my mate Malky now my question or maybe my point is over the last 2 or 3 weeks these yb's have been falling to bits and i mean falling to bits the loft is quite airy plenty light no darkness with them they are on 2 part beans 1 part 4 season mix 1 part wheat 1 part barley and 1 part layer pellets not a heavy feed and not too seedy either so what is making them moult this quick??? they have oregano tea 2 or 3 times a week maybe cider vinegar once a week tae dropping are perfect yb's look great flying ok but never had them moult like this this early???

Alan the clamy warm humid air just now makes them moult like fek also with it being overcaste for a few weeks it in a way simulates nights darkening as its been dark here at 9pm when the black clouds been out and tonight was light till 10.45 with clear skys . The heat also stimulates it , my young birds at the minute are like burst pillows , also a good few of my canaries which are breeding just now have started to moult far to early being on young uns now , its only the dull and warm days thats caused it , dont worry if there owt like mine they will be through the worst in another 3 or 4 weeks , wont do no harm at 1st races as long as there cover feathers are in and its not pissing with rain :emoticon-0167-beer::emoticon-0167-beer:
