Atomic Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Hi, you have a full time job here, returning strays. How far offshore is the rig?Regards, Tom.
blue lad Posted July 2, 2012 Author Report Posted July 2, 2012 We are approx 33 mls of witby yorkshire tom , Have seen heeps here last 5 weeks .However last trip i was off humberside on another rig , Some of the boys who shuttle out to the rigs 15 mls off said they are allways pigeons on them aswell. More often than most people think.I have often been told by them once they go on a rig the owner does not want hem back and they are no good ,But that is a story that go,s around all rigs. However I have found the oposit with any i have found Steve

Atomic Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Hi again Steve,Imagine finding a bit of dry land, albeit an oil rig, 33 miles out at sea. You cannot blame a good bird for diabolical weather and I guess the ones that do not make it to you drown. The passing on of this myth about birds being no good after being lost is a shame and does the sport no good in the eyes of the public. There is loads out there on the internet for the public to find about caring for and reporting stray birds which is brilliant compared to when I used to race them. Enjoy your next spell on dry land. Regards, Tom.
