english is your native tongue, you had to go to classes to learn irish,no one in northern ireland uses it.go into belfast city centre,in fact anywhere in northern ireland ,except west belfast, and you will find everyone speaks english, even west belfast i might add as english is the language they where brought up with.yes i am from scots/english stock but i speak english like the rest of the uk,i detest 'minorities' raming their stuff down peoples throat just to make a point.the people on here from GB dont understand the point i am making or the point you are making by using irish.people from africa or india or anywhere elst might need a translator because english is not their native language,it is your. this is just an open reply to you seeing a lot of people onhere have made their own comments,so now they can comment on my reply, see if i get any support like you seem to have got. i will say nothing more on the subject.THE END.

He's using Irish because he is proud of being Irish but he also has the decency to translate into English. Take the Irish, Scots and Welsh at football, when they pull on the shirt for their country they wear it with a pride and passion, not seen by most English players, and that is plain for ALL to see. I say be proud of what you are and not what people try to tell you to be.

You know we see quite a bit of the 'Scottish spelling' and we take no notice still  :-/ ;):P ;D ;D

On a serious note, no one really gives a rats' backside if you do Mick.  It is again the content that matters.

Indeed there are a few postings from time to time that should have been written in Martian... Come to think of it they were .... well definately not from this planet lol.

Indeed must have been so 'High' it could ave been Venus lol

And micko, carry on just as you like .... Indeed you now have my permission lol :P ;D ;D

BALAMOREY.  :'(  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The wind stood still, the trees fluttered little, a quiet deathly silence fell upon the moors, was it true that there were strange things happening in the hills of Wales or was the dissapearance of the sheep more sinister.....   Only time will tell.......  :o

Brian mo chara (Irish ) MY FRIEND

I'm happy that this isn't going to be getting into a toeing and throwing thing

thats why i refered to you as another member

so I wont even reply to the wrongs in your last post

that's not good for our site

I put this thread up simply to see if anyone

(apart from yourself that is)

had a problem in me speaking MY native tongue

and at the same time providing translation

the language taught to me by my first teachers

mathair agus athair

micko my brother we can post in the language of our forefathers as a birthright!!!!....and most all the guys on here are ok with that as theres nomalice in any of it.......mick

Well done Micko, and keep using the Gaelic. My parents were fluent and I wish I had learnt it. In my posts, letters and everyday speech I use Romany, no one has ever complained but many have asked to learn bits and pieces. Native languages of these Islands are getting rarer, so long may they continue, even if it is only by the few.

CHAIRDE Irish  (FRIENDS)

this morning on the  "what are the nipa at???????" thread

I was accused of

"what's this gibberish"

"you nationalists are always try to ram Irish down our throats"

now I wont get into all the ins and outs of it as the mods removed the posts from the thread but I did say in reply that we have members on this site from all over and not everyone speaks English and asked that if a German or South African member came on site spoke in their native tongue and provided a translation should we all jump on the bandwagon and hound them of site ??

NOT A VERY GOOD WAY TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP

in reply I was told "this is an English sitespeak English"

I don't think that I'm ramming Irish down anyones throat and pointed out that this member was the first to complain I have been on this site a long time now I joined looking birds and FRIENDSHIP (check my first posts) I would like to think I have contributed well to this site and HOPE I HAVE MADE MANY MANY FRIENDS I pointed out there was nothing in the rules saying I couldn't write in Irish and said that if the member wanted to post in Ulster Scots AND PROVIDE TRANSLATION I WOULD SUPPORT HIM 100%

I also pointed out that fancier call to my home and are made welcome I don't ask their religion politics or anything else WHY because I'm not interested they are in my home as FRIENDS AND PIGEON FANCIERS and I pointed out that some members had avatars of the pope with a sash northern Ireland flag with home of the Billy boys to pick just a few did I get upset haha like water of a ducks back I have even PMed these guys joked and winded them no later than last night AND NOT ONE OF THEM COMPLAINED ABOUT MY USE OF MY NATIVE TONGUE

I don't think my use of my native tongue is a threat to anyone and unless there is a rule change I will continue to use Irish like wise I would support the rights of Scottish or welsh fancier or anyone else to speak their native tongue so long as they provide translation

at the end of the mail I posted in reply I apologised to the mods and TO THE NIPA FANCIER who were checking the thread for liberation times for the thread going of topic mick

ps

the only Irish I have used that I never provided translation for is under jacks photo in our avatar have a look no one has ever asked what it said so let me provide translation now

Beagán a rá agus é a rá go maith.

Say little but say it well.

food for thought mick

it is a pity you dont speak urdu or some other asian language then you could have taken an english drivivng test or similar

in an asian tounge , it seems like it does not count for anything being indiginous to these islands
