Find that it is hard to plan anything with the weather being so changeable. I had to pick & choose times and days according to conditions as I perceived them.

I don't think there is anything to be gained risking birds training when weather is so iffy, so the majority of mine have been loft-trained only - my hens do 90 minutes unforced most mornings rain or shine from about 2 weeks prior to the first race (21/4) - then went straight into the race basket at 63 miles. The hens now have had 2 x 63 mile races, and they are all still there.

I've dropped 2 cocks at 63 miles. They don't exercise nearly as well as the hens, but they were both trained before their 1st race, and went down??
