my no 1 stock hens first and second round of eggs wernt filled she is ten year old this year and is paired to her yearling grandson ,her eggs are normal sized with no imperfactions,they have plenty of room and on open loft,do you think her breeding life is over or could it be the cock,any advice anybody.

if the hens done she wont lay any eggs

she may be too keen and laying before the cock treads her

or the cock may not be coupling correctly of even infertile

 

change the cock and see what happens

Try clipping the feathers at her vent,had this work in the past,worth a try good luck.

I had the same problem with a reliable pair, some of the old boys gave me the same advice, clip the vent feathers and it worked, great advice that.

Should you not be lookin in the cocks direction?

 

i would think so steven

never had to clip a hen before and a yearling cock shouldnt need clipped

as i said before try her with a new cock and see what happens

I was told a long time ago that if the hen still lays and the eggs are just yolk it is always down to the cock
