adam owen Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 do cocks win in the bottom boxes?? by this i mean a strip of four down .....or are they to low ????????/
OLDYELLOW Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 had them win in most box positions but must admit most of my good birds have liked the top boxes
Guest Dorset-lad Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Yes Adam i had a van reet cock who had the bottom right hand corner box who had won 7 races on widowhood going back in the early 90s, and going back further to the 80s had a busschaert cock on natural who had won i think it was 8 races in the same box, so to me it doesnt matter what box they pick if they are bonded to that box dont try and change them. jmo
gulkie Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 if you visit a loft and are asked to pick out the best birds pick the top boxes and the top perches and youwon't be far away 80% of the time.these are the head strong pigeons ;)
demolition man Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 ive had plenty of winners in bottom boxes, and wot i mean by winners is mulipul wins at fed level
PIGEON_MAN Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Talking about boxes and bonding of a cock to a particular box do people think it a must to let yearling widowhood cocks rear at least one youngster in their box.

I always thought it was a must to allow cocks a youngbird, so that they would bond to the box. However speaking to a friend of mine who's won 6 nationals etc tells me he races the widowhood cocks dry.
