Guest Grasshopper Lofts Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Is there an alternative to using plywood for a landing board... Any ideas would be great
Guest ljb107 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Could maybe try thick wire mesh. I used a piece of wood from an old shelf, its about 3ft x 4 inches and my young racers were hitting it out of the sky last year so it couldn't have been that bad. Lloyd

paddymac Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 I changed the front of my lofts last year and used decking planks running the full length of both lofts putting them 3 boards wide. It gives the birds more confidence too landing straight out of flight onto the board and plenty of room for the YBs when sitting them out to have a look around.

yeboah Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 Meant to have complete new front on loft by now had it all drawn out but with being sidelined looks like end of year job ,going to create aviary and trapping system in upvc which can be purchased up to 600 wide in a single board doing mine in white although it is also available in mahogany rosewood and golden oak but about roughly 30 % more expensive but once finished no more upkeep can be hosed clean and no breeding ground for beasties ,have already tried it on a small scale forming an aviary and must say it looks very impressive .
