Young fanicers Awards 2011: The RPRA Young Fanciers’ Competition was held over the first and fourth weekends in August. To ensure fairness across the UK, the results were calculated by use of the coefficient system. The best performance in each group on each weekend, as defined by the coefficient, wins £50 cash donated by Truckline Ferries.

The lucky winners are:

Weekend 1

Group 1 – Young Fanciers Under 15 - Perry Lewis of Bath, 6th Combine from Exeter, velocity 1452

Group 2 – Associate Young Fanciers Under 15 - Keiron Hughes (R & T & K Hughes) of Mold, 1st Club from Hereford, velocity 1399

Group 3 – Young Fanciers aged 15-18 - No entries received

Group 4 – Associate Young Fanciers aged 15-18 - Mary Thomson (Hamilton & Thomson) of Lesmahagow, 3rd Federation from Ridsdale, velocity 986

Weekend 2

Group 1 – Young Fanciers Under 15 - Charlie Millward of Buckley, 14th Federation from Frome, velocity 1427

Group 2 – Associate Young Fanciers Under 15 - Keiron Hughes (R & T & K Hughes) of Mold, 1st Club from Frome, velocity 1422

Group 3 – Young Fanciers aged 15-18 - Perry Lewis of Bath, 12th Amalgamation from Yelverton, velocity 1620 [Note: Perry turned 15 between the two weekends]

Group 4 – Associate Young Fanciers aged 15-18 - Mary Thomson (Hamilton & Thomson) of Lesmahagow, 4th Club from Ridsdale, velocity 799

Two extra prizes are also awarded:

Keiron Hughes’ two results in Group 2 above win him the best performance over the two weekends, taken as the average of the coefficients for Weekends 1 and 2, for which he receives £50 cash donated by Truckline Ferries.

The prize for best single performance by a bird wearing a free ring issued by RPRA goes to Perry Lewis, whose GB11K00802 was 12th Amalgamation from Yelverton (as above). He wins a £200 TauRIS ETS voucher.

Our congratulations and thanks to all of the entrants, particularly those who pushed the winners close: Nicola Hey, Corey & Mia Butler, Niall Bowker, and Richard Donnan.

Many thanks too, of course, to our competition sponsors: Truckline Ferries and TauRIS.
