Guest IB Posted August 9, 2011 Report Posted August 9, 2011 Does anyone think that if we didnt race youngbirds just for one year it would bring the BOP numbers down as we know this is when the full family are out to learn and feed so if we didny race the youngsters there will be less food for them??? I think we all keep pigeons to race them. But I also think the majority of fanciers don't keep them to feed BoPs. I believe more damage to BoP numbers could be done at the beginning of the year when food is scarce for all wildlife by either reducing the numbers of YBs bred and / or breeding them later - early-bred youngsters in a food-scarce season is open invitation. Starved BoP die, dead birds don't breed. And moving the race season foward a few weeks would also make less food available for BoP at a critical time in their breeding season.
