I posted on this site on Saturday, that when the Aberdeen birds were liberated from Thornton, near me, both the moon and the sun were present in the skyhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/emoticon-0126-nerd.gif

yes seems to be the norm, i was chatting with our fed race adviser, he said to me it was clear skys but he don't like the sun & moon, he said what should i do holder over

a common thing with this time of the year, many say they've lost more but i have to say i haven't. I think alot is we try to look for a reason behind the losses on certain days.

I dont like it especially with east in the wind. Have known there to be smashes on such days even with old birds.

Thing is sun & moon are always together during the daytime in the sky, it's just the usual cloud cover over UK that prevents us from seeing the paler moon in daylight. But I doubt very much if clouds obscure it from the birds when they are airborne.

 

Can't think how it might have an affect on birds homing.
