Guest Birdfinder Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 Found this pigeon today and contacted Graham Giddings of NPA but unfortunately the original breeder/keeper has died and he doesn't know who the bird belongs to now. Does anyone recognise the number? I am willing to look after it for a couple of days but I don't have the facilities to care for it long term as I live in a flat. It's a very nice bird and very calm, it's obviously used to being handled.
OLDYELLOW Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 perhaps ask Graham Giddings of NPA , for fancy clubs in your area or tell us where you are then someone may be able to take it off ya , thanks for caring for this bird
Guest Birdfinder Posted July 24, 2011 Report Posted July 24, 2011 I'm in Bexhill-on-Sea and Graham said he doesn't have anyone in my area. Not sure if anyone else can help
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 There is a pigeon club in Bexhill who may be able to help 15001 – 15400 SO15 BEXHILL I H SMr Richard Taylor, West View Cottage, 86 Cooden Sea Road,Little Common, Bexhill, East Sussex TN39 4SP. Tel: 01424 844694
Guest Birdfinder Posted July 25, 2011 Report Posted July 25, 2011 Spoke to Richard who said to take the bird over to the park and let it go and it should fly back to where it belongs. Will try this in the morning unless anyone else has any other suggestions.
just ask me Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 well done for taking care of the bird hopefully it will go home :emoticon-0137-clapping:
Guest Birdfinder Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Well at the moment I still have the bird as it wouldn't fly away. Managed to speak to a nice chap in Eastbourne today who said he would phone around his pigeon contacts in Bexhill and Hastings to see if someone would be prepared to take the bird, if not he will come and get it tomorrow. (Found a much bigger box to put it in and have discovered the pigeon likes my broth mix with split peas and lentils etc in it. Seems to prefer it to the bird seed. Maybe it just needs a bit of fattening up to give it more energy )
