well done Mark, that's the right direction, we as individuals will get nowhere, and just give the RSPB more to down us with threats etc, i have just read my local paper, KIRKCALDY shopping cente high street, having problems with seagulls attacking people in the street actually takeing things from their hands etc while they are eating them, and whats being done about it, nothing, they have been told not to feed the seagulls, as they cant do anything, this is the environmental department, they have put up notices telling people not to feed them,as legally the local authority is not obliged to take any action as the gulls are a protected species, and even in these circumstances it is illegal to do anything that will cause suffering to the gulls, they are protected under the wildlife and countryside act 1981, so what is this country coming to, people are scared to go shopping and nothing can be done,

I got quite a good reply from the GM , just need to read pages 6 and 7 in this weeks BHW so when you've finished kirky can i have yours lol :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle: :emoticon-0136-giggle:

well I've actually taken the time to address the new General manager of the R.P.R.A and asked him a few questions :) Message to Stewart Wardrop :

Firstly i would like to congratulate you on your new role as General Manager of the R.P.R.A . As a member of this union i would like to know what the union is currently doing to bring birds of prey ( bop ) to the attention of the government ???? what strategies are in place to over turn the protection of bop that was put in place and not over turned or reviewed since the making of this law , and is it not time that the unions came together to fight bop in parliament and perhaps instead of giving a big hand out to the charities after Blackpool wouldn't this money be better employing someone like Chris Packham to champion our cause before the sport can no longer continue . What happened to the confederation of unions ???? , wouldn't our sport be better run as a big business such as fifa do football and have more shared liberations from channel races , this sport really needs to look at it's infrastructure and get with the times were at least 50 years behind the continental fanciers , i look forward to your reply

the most positive thing i can come up with is pigeon racing is unusual as a complete novice can try and compete at the top level from virtually the start......i don't know about BOP but the nrcc conveyor did a good job wiping me out. that said i think it's been a tough season weatherwise trying to get birds in or out of scotland

most fanciers have had racing pigeons all there lives, we plod on regardless of all the negatives in the sport...

imo there are 3 killers of the sport...

1. Birds of Prey

2. Politics

3. Control Freaks

... despite this we carry on for the love of our sport, rise above the negatives and thrive on the highs
