tori.no. nail Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 Has anybody noticed after treating with Travipharma 5% KUUR+ young birds brought up corn next morning? No watery droppings what so ever.
just ask me Posted July 14, 2011 Report Posted July 14, 2011 never used the product but dont think i heard anything like that
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 It's 5% Ronidazole and it can be given to babies in the nest - so sickness will have nothing to do with the medication I'd say to keep an eye on your birds as it might be 'something else'
OLDYELLOW Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 only treatment i know that makes birds sick is when worming , as Redcheqhen says it can be used on babies and only 5% , from vets its 10% , lots of things can cause birds to be sick such as lodged seeds / grains or even stress
Guest IB Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 I remember reading certain canker treatments do make the birds sick. Can't really remember where. But Vets' Tips for Fanciers p140, talking about treating with metronidazole warns fanciers: 'watch out that the pigeons do not vomit just after you give them the tablet'. That sounds to me like a quarter tablet of Flagyl?
just ask me Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 has anyone seen the birds what did they think
Guest big slim Posted July 15, 2011 Report Posted July 15, 2011 Im using it now on young birds. NO sickness.
tori.no. nail Posted July 16, 2011 Author Report Posted July 16, 2011 thanks for reply,i thought at first it was young bird sickness ,but symptoms did not work out.so i put it down to the canker treatment.inow have them on apple cider vinegar in their water, they are not being sick at this moment.plus their on a light diet.they were on their 8th training toss when it happened, maybe stress always seem to happen when things are going well.winning 1st and 2nd last old bird race from bonn in germany 460 miles.its all sent to try us.thanks viv, tori. no. nail.
JohnQuinn Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) It's 5% Ronidazole and it can be given to babies in the nest - so sickness will have nothing to do with the medication I'd say to keep an eye on your birds as it might be 'something else' This is the drug used to treat Helicobacter Pilori in Humans, it causes vomiting in many people, Not everyone but a lot so it could i suppose be making Some doos sick and not others Edited July 16, 2011 by JohnQuinn
