If you have a high count your advised to treat as there numbers are high , surely if you have been tested by a vet they'd offer treatment if not ring them back :)

Old yellow ..

I had asked a simple question and in your usual kind and thoughtful way you have just returned asking me a question. You are meaning well but it is irritating none the less.

I will ask again.

Please can somebody kindly offer me in the reading of OPG'S what a high worm and cocci count is

Many thanks

oocysts per gram (opg) :) a count that was under 3,000 oocysts per gram (opg) of droppings was considered to be normal, with no expected response to treatment. A count of 3,000-20,000 opg was considered to be moderate, with treatment often providing a significant improvement in performance. A count of 20,000-50,000 opg was considered to be severe

I am doing my own tests on my birds and the information you have given me is good.I can see where i am going with those figures and guides.

I was given a microscope for a christmas present some 3 years oago and have used it twice in that time.I must start to use it a little more often.

It seems i have a cociddia ocyst reading of 300opg and a worm count of 100opg ..My Tricho' reading is zero

I have been reading that some dutch vets advocate treating for a cocci count above 250opg...Surely not!!?

Thanks Old yellow.

Yeah Tony.It sounds very good and informative.

I have tried to register but it just ignores my confirm button..

I think Graeme parsons was a vet that would pass on advice on this forum at one time .He then vanished!!

I think the continental fanciers treat too much anyway :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: , but like i say ring my vets up there quite happy to answer queries ;) and obviously know far more than i know from a technical point of view :) great to see someone taking up the microscope will probably save you lots of ££££'s and you'l know exactly what's wrong with your birds , well done :emoticon-0137-clapping: :emoticon-0137-clapping: :emoticon-0137-clapping: :emoticon-0137-clapping:
