Guest IB Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 I'd 4 away to North West Fed Open & SCC Combine Huntingdon, 290 miles. I thought I was off to a good start getting 2 inside 2 minutes, then (favourite saying today down at marking station) 'they just dried up': 1202, 1204, and 1423. Vel 1409, not at races, and still no sign of my 4th bird.

kelly tom Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 Davy Hannah phoned me on Sunday morning to see what the weather was like in North Yorkshire,i was up early and it was a lovely morning ,clear as a bell and sunshine, yet you had another bad race,Huntingdon is 147 miles to me.I fully understand Lanarkshires reasons for not racing the West route but i still dont understand where your birds head over to the West when your are racing from the East. What route do you lads think that they take?

kelly tom Posted June 13, 2011 Report Posted June 13, 2011 TammyDo you think that it would be worthwhile for the Fed to use Gps trackers on some of the birds because from what i read Lanarkshire appear to have a lot of poor races .

I would be a great idea Tom and then it would then let the fed see which route their birds actually take home and the race points could then be picked accordingly and yes they do seem to have their share of bad races but I do not think they will invest in GPS even though it works on pigeons as there was a programme on tv with birds being tracked but maybe some of the wealthy fed fliers might invest in some system themselves to see where the problem lies.
