xtccock Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Who has used eqvalan with success.and what was your parasitic target. also any any effect on training racing loft flying? also has anyone used it during breeding/rearing
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Found it to be really good. My dad was recommended it years ago by our local feed stockist and we've used it most seasons since. Most I've used it is twice in one year.Usually 4-6weeks before pairing and occasionally used it during racing, usually in the 2nd last week in May.Personally notice a big difference in the birds after it.Never had droppings tested, before or after treatment. So can't really comment on just how effective it is on internal parasites but you'll not have any lice or crawlies on your birds for a long time after the dosage.
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 what dosage did you use?? The tube has units on it an inch apart. Was told to use 1 inch to 4 litres of water. My watering can can hold 8 litres.Usually whisk 2 inches up in a cup with water till its dissolved before diluting it in the watering can.Just give them it for one day. Its sometimes difficult to use products that arnae specifically designed for pigeons but we were recommended it and feel its done the doos no harm at all over the years
xtccock Posted June 2, 2011 Author Report Posted June 2, 2011 i used 1 inch to a jam jar of hot water shaken well then added to 2.5 litres of cold water straight in drinker . at that dose rate = 5 servings £10-95 syringe
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted June 2, 2011 Report Posted June 2, 2011 Apparently the cheapest way tae worm yer doos is to keep the doos locked in,take the drinkers and feed away then don't go back in yer hut for 3 or 4 days Never tried it myself mind you

Guest IB Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 Equvlan was the 'under the counter' method of worming the pigeons using ivermectin, when ivermectin wasn't licensed for birds, saw it recommended for years by scribes in BHW. All that pallaver about inches and gallons was to try and dilute it from horsey strength down to correct strength for pigeons. Equvlan is still an 'under the counter' product for pigeons, you're basically telling a pack of lies when you sign for it at your supplier. There are ivermectin products for pigeons. Maybe a bit dearer to buy but at least you know you're giving the birds the correct dose - and you get information on correct use and side effects, and when Not to use it.
xtccock Posted June 3, 2011 Author Report Posted June 3, 2011 wide safety margin at 9 times the recomended dose horses
jimmy_bulger Posted June 3, 2011 Report Posted June 3, 2011 it is and has been the cure for depluming mite for years.
