pether2907 Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 Is there any sites with diagrams/layouts for a 12x6 loft?
showman Posted May 25, 2011 Report Posted May 25, 2011 What were you thinking of doing Andy.....building yourself or buying finished loft ?
showman Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 Here's a few manufacturers you could take a look at Andy. They all have websites, so you can peruse at leisure. Ecco Sheds & Lofts,DerbyshirePetron Lofts,West YorksBarnsley Lofts,Selby Clydesdale Timber Products, DerbyshireTranter Lofts, Stourbridge Personally,I don't have experience of any of them, but others on the site may be able to help give info or experience when dealing with them. Anyhow, take a look through the websites, and it may give you some ideas as to what you would want. Hope this helps. Paul.
pether2907 Posted May 26, 2011 Author Report Posted May 26, 2011 What you guys think? just testing ideas suggestions/criticisms welcome regards Andy
geordie1234 Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 What you guys think? just testing ideas suggestions/criticisms welcome regards Andycould work mate but with that size of loft i would forget about the stock section and the corridor
pether2907 Posted May 26, 2011 Author Report Posted May 26, 2011 could work mate but with that size of loft i would forget about the stock section and the corridor the corridor is only 5ft out of 13ft also how do you not have a stock room? appreciate the advice though fella!!
showman Posted May 26, 2011 Report Posted May 26, 2011 How many birds do you envisage the YB section holding ?
pether2907 Posted May 27, 2011 Author Report Posted May 27, 2011 Good question, obviously 12prs would equal 24 babies at a absolute maximum thats if i had 12prs! so i would like it to hold 24 ybs until my selection has been picked
showman Posted May 27, 2011 Report Posted May 27, 2011 So, Andy, let's add things up.12 pairs stock birds = 24 pigeons12 pairs old birds = 24 "24 youngsters = 24 "Total = 72 pigeons (possible) I like to try and impliment W.E.Barkers theory on 'bird space'. Using this you would have enough room for approx. 20 pigeons in a 12 x 6 loft. I have always believed his formula was designed to optomise the total well being of his pigeons. I appreciate you may be confined to available space for your new loft.....12 x 6 is not a problem but I would honestly take a look at your internal layout, and possibly approach it from the angle of 'total well being' JMO.
