Guest HUTTONARNI Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 I have a racing Pigeon staying in my garden. S/he has been here for nearly two weeks. I feed the wild birds and s/he is feeding and sleeping on my roof. I am not able to catch the bird. Please can you advise me what to do. I have become very fond of him/her and want to ensure that s/he is returned to safety as soon as possible. I live in Hertfordshire, Hemel Hempstead area. I cannot get close enough to read the ring codes. Many thanks!

Guest HUTTONARNI Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Many thanks!! Thank you!! Have you any tips on catching the bird. He seems tame in that he does not immediately fly off when I approach him but he will not let me get close enough to catch him. I have a cardboard pet carrier box that I will be sturdy enough if I do manage to catch him. Many thanksNicola
Guest pigeon82 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 turn the box upside down put food under it hold up with stick and tie string youll soon catch him and dont worry he wont hurt you
Guest nicola hutton Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I am just updating. My guest pigeon must have got wind of the idea that I was making plans to catch him because after a two week stay he is no longer in my garden. I sincerely hope that he has made it home safely as I did become very attached to him and I hope that I did the right thing by continuing to provide food for him. Thank you for your replies, if I have another visitor I feel more equipped as to where to go for advice!! Kind regardsNicola
