Guest Denny Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 I have noticed a hen recently who had appeared to be getting light, yesterday she seemed a little unbalanced and today I noticed that when I took her off the nest she was unable to walk. She used her wings to get about on the floor. The other birds seem unaffected at present, but this hen has been reluctant to leave her eggs for the last few days and was quite defensive each time I went to check her. Could it be that she has not left the eggs and become weak? Any ideas as this is the first time I have had this issue in my loft. If there is an issue how do I go about treating it abd ensuring my other birds are not affected?
greenlands Posted May 1, 2011 Report Posted May 1, 2011 More than likely if she as not had a knock it will be calcium/magnesium deficiency.Anything high in calcium should sort her in a couple of days.I have osteocare and calcium tabs on hand. Lindsay
