john cumming Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Just sent my birds for a quick training toss on tuesday about 15 miles, weather conditions were perfect hens and cocks both back & in the loft in good time with the exception of one dark cheq cock, 5 hours later he appears and to my disgust his crop is torn open and his under carriage damaged he wont be racing again this year, he was my first bird home from the race on saturday only missing out on taking the red card by a decimal point ending third, never seems to happen to birds you dont have confidence in does it??? john

Dave barrie Posted April 29, 2011 Report Posted April 29, 2011 i hed a good wee red hen flew well the y/b program to ripon, came 2 days late, how she made it i dont know, was opened down her back and crop, looked like the hawk had been eating her but she got away, her wings were fine so she made it, i put her in a crate for the night hoping she would come to in the morning or be a bit more recovered from her ordeal only to find she was crappin out her back so her innards were destroyed, broke my heart to put her down, goes to show that the ones that dont home are not all bad doos.
