JohnQuinn Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 After finding bashed eggs under a couple of my best pairs i was thinking i might invest in an Incubator. What i don't know is which one to get and how much i would have to pay for one. Does anyone use an incubator, if so which type and how much does it cost?? Cheers.
airdrie2 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 one of my mates uses one john he said that you have to get one that rotates the eggs will ask him about it he has incubated a few chicken eggs for me last year
JohnQuinn Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Ta Charlie, it would need to be an automatic one anyway so your mate's sounds like one i could use.
shweet Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 Ive been thinking about getting one for a couple of years. Heres a few websites you can try. If your unsure phone them and ask. * Brinsea * Novital * Multiquip * MasallesMost bird species require a similar range of temperature and humidity. For the incubation period of pigeon eggs, the following levels are recommended: * Temperature between 37.2 and 37.5 degrees C (or 99 to 99.5 degrees F) * Humidity levels of 55 to 60%

John: If you are going to get one, get it sooner rather than later, that way you can try it on Sh*t eggs to get the hang of things like, temperature, humidity and turning them. If the turning is not automatic just mark one side so you know which ones have been turned. The first time I tried pheasant eggs I struck luck and they all hatched but I had been told by a few people that I would not get many to hatch until I knew what I was doing. You could do it a few times this summer to get the hang of it. Best of luck!
Guest ljb107 Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 When we used to breed quail, partridge, francolin and bantams - we used brinsea octogon 20's with automatic cradles. We used to run them at 37.7 and add a little water a day or two before hatching. Lloyd
Flyer Posted March 30, 2011 Report Posted March 30, 2011 the latest r-com 20(2011) there about &200 to &250 fully automatic temperature, automatic humidity or a king suro 20 £150 but this needs humidity pads the r-com 20 has a water heating system to control humidity. http://www.youtube.com/user/PandTPoultry#p/u/7/J62u_36MxQ8 or if you want it on the cheap just for pigeons make one http://www.rivercottage.net/forum/ask/poultry/14917make-your-own-incubatori found humidity is not important for pigeons mine runs dry at 38%.

I have had a few down the years for hatching Bantam eggs, and found the Brinsea Eco20 fully auto to be the best. A new one would set you back about £150
Guest grizzler Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 used a incubator in the past to hatch parrot eggs,go for a auto turnining one brinsea are just about the best,,you should be able to pick up a s/h one for less than a hundred quid
