This is not the case all it would take is for a person to send the info with confirmation from someone like club sec to set off the application process. Not the individual him / herself.

Cheers

Richard has been in touch with the Moderators. Hope this goes some way to explaining things. He will issue more info shortly.

Hi,

It hasnt been a good few weeks, our year long project deadline and demonstration happened last week, with supporting documents (running into hundreds of pages  :-/) are due this week; exams are more or less the latter half of May; however there's getting that far first!

Last time I was online (a long while ago :() I was trying to get intouch with a member about his payment - his is the only outstanding amount.

Last night between report writing and practical coding I have made it further with the application document; and should have this online within the week.

I havent had chance to check email, pm or posts for a week or two now; however will try to flick through them asap.

I'll make a post on here tonight.

Richard

I think this is a bad show by the people who run this site, We have known for a while now that this member who lost everything in a house fire was in need of help.  This is the sort of member we folks on here would go out of our way to help and if we had done this by ourselfs this member would by now have had a great bit of support from the other members on this site, so i think the powers that be should get there fingers out and give a good bit of support to this member sooner rather than later.

I have asked the webmaster via a pm but I never received a reply.  Until I started this thread I was unaware of who the "committee" were so as yer I still do not know the procedure for putting Marks name forward.

LINDA  try sending a P.M. to the webmaster and let us know how you get on

Hi Guy's as I understand it ALL applications must be made in writing to the webmaster. I have advised members in the past of this.To my knowledge no written applications have been made, unless you advise me different.

Cheers

Ian

This is my reply NOT the committes.

i think ur right Ian regarding the applications, never heard of any so far, and they will go to the webmaster, then the committee will deal with them, but you must get an application in. and i know the webmaster is sitting exams etc just now so might be on soon. but there is no reason not to e-mail him,

I have tried to send the webmaster a PM my self. But as you can see by the statement above, he has not had chance to read these. Things have to be done right, so I belive that he is right, in not jumping in when his mind is not on it, and start throwing money around left right and centre. As he says he will have a form sorted shortly for people to apply. I no it is fustrating for members, but we have all be in education at some point in our lives, and this is a very important time for him. So I would like to wish him well in his exams etc and look forward to seeing him more regulary on the site in the very near future.

In reply to what most people have been saying about the auction/fund, the application form/process has to well thought out so that the money goes to the right people. Also, with no disrespect to superstar(mark), the fund has been set up to help those people that have lost birds/lofts due to arson attacks and other criminal damage. And to my knowledge, the case of superstar was a house fire? Also if you read the information on the fund it also states what it will be used for:

"The 2007 Pigeonbasics.com Fund is in aid of pigeon fanciers that have unfortunately fallen the victim to an act of arson, or criminal damage towards lofts, or other pigeon racing equipment."

Superstar's case is a bad thing and it would be nice to help him, but I feel that the fund is directed at something slightly different.

Hi Mick

I spoke to Richard at Blackpool and I was told it was for:

The 2007 Pigeonbasics.com Fund is in aid of pigeon fanciers that have unfortunately fallen the victim to an act of arson, or criminal damage towards lofts, or other pigeon racing equipment.

This does not mean the committee will not consider it if the webmaster is in receipt of an application.

Herin lies the problem: An application

Gems

I see you are a fairly new member, if you was here when all the original posts had been made about Superstar you would realise that the only thing Superstar had left was his birds.  All his equiptment (necessary for the breeding and racing birds) went up in smoke his pets including 2 dogs were also lost..  The birds saved his sanity believe me, but for a man who puts the welfare of his birds upmost priority not being able to what in other years comes naturally is hard for him.

I did make an application regarding Superstar last night (hopefully I went through the correct channels), if one of the "committee" could possible let me know it has been received I would be most grateful.

Thank you for the replies to my post, but in reply to mac1, gangster and various others, when the auction was set up and announced, there was no mention of it being in aid of superstar. If you read the news section of the website about the auction: http://www.pigeonbasics.com/news/news336.html

It clearly states that the auction is to set up a fund to help those who have been victims of arson attacks, the case of superstar is a house fire. And specifically these arson attacks are directed at pigeon fanciers and their pigeons.

Here is what the webmaster posted about the auction in the news when it was first announced in Feb:

"Much thought has gone into the beneficiary for the 2007 auction, which will be the Pigeonbasics.com Fund.

It was noticed throughout this winter season that a new attack on pigeons, pigeon racing, and pigeon fanciers; attacks occurring almost weekly, devastating years of work put in by so many fanciers. The Pigeonbasics.com Fund has been setup this year to help pigeon fancier victims of arson, criminal damage on pigeon lofts, and on pigeon racing equipment. Help for the fanciers to re-establish themselves within our sport, and continue to participate racing pigeons."

In reply to Tammy's post, thank you for backing me up on the set up of the fund and I agree that superstar should apply, and then it will be up to the committee.

I will enlighten you simple simon, the fund as , gems states  was not not directly set up to help Mark, and before you jump down my throat , if you look back at the start you will see that i brought up the situation of Mark benefiting from the fund, I also brought up his plight after it was brought about by his good friend Linda as a worthy cause , yes he is in need of some  urgent help from the fund as are others , and a point made by the moderators , has anybody put in a direct request for help and if this is not the case maybe Linda should write one today and send it in on Marks behalf.

Well I had took my post off to change the wording , but yes what you had posted was true, and the thread I started was not this one , cannot find it but it was originally posted after I had spoken to Linda  a while back about Mark and she felt something more could be done sooner rather than later and I did inform Linda as to the thread I had started regarding funds going to help Mark , at the time this auction had started there was then suggestions the auction money could go to Mark, and this was only a suggestion by some members, not the reason as to why the auction was held, but the money raised is going to help folk that need it , and are involved with pigeons and who have suffered loss, so sure Mark will benefit as will others who have suffered losses due to fire and damage done to their birds

MAYBE YOU DID SEND ME ONE LAST FEBUARY HOW LONG AGO WAS THAT,OUR POINT IS WERES THE CASH WENT THAT US HONEST MEMBERS ON THIS FORUM RAISED FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT,WHY ARE YOU STICKING UP FOR THE RESPONSIBLE I CAN SMELL A RAT MATEY

Posting up as a member on my recollections of Auction objectives (February 2007) and Tammy's original thread on Superstar (March 2007) which is at:

http://www.pigeonbasics.com/forum/blah/m-1173770331/s-0/

Don't recollect any move to hold an auction specifically for Superstar, and any donation that I personally made was for a fund set up to benefit fanciers targeted by arson and similar such attacks on their loft (s). Committee is named in that thread too, and it is their discretion / decision.

I think you will find that IAN MACKAY is one of the most honest men you will meet on this forum, and he will only stick up for what is right and nothing else, and I also have had some major disputes  with the webmaster but I think you will also find he will do absolutely nothing wrong with any members money, he has already posted today he has not been on much lately because he is busy with his studies, he is after all just a young man and he did appoint a committee to oversee this money for that reason, who apart from Linda has put in a written request for any money, I dont really think this is something that should be causing any arguements, I am quite sure all the money will go what it was collected for and that none of it will be used for anything else on the forum, will not be hard to count up, we know the total and we will I am sure be given any details as to how much is given where.
