That's an interesting one, not many fish in garden ponds around here, but I have seen them in the past. What is the hobby advice for taking care of these fish during winters like this one?
Guest Hjaltland Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 My father has goldfish in a garden pond which freezes over in winter... never seems to do them any harm and they survive well. The pond is a couple of feet deep at most

gulkie Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 the depth of the water is certainly an important factor.
lvlasked Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 fish should die if the pond deep enuff also there should be a air supple in the pond and if it freezes over your ment to break the ice i had a koi pond and never lost one fish
THE FIFER Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 My father has goldfish in a garden pond which freezes over in winter... never seems to do them any harm and they survive well. The pond is a couple of feet deep at most you are supposed to break the ice to let oxygen in
