Walter swanston Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 I thought it might be permissable to give the members of this site an update on the progress of the planning application for a Peregrine Falcon Breeding centre at Westwater near Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway. The original application which was denied permission in August is now the subject of an appeal to the Scottish Government and is being considered by their officials who are based near Falkirk. At the same time the applicant made a further application for a slightly reduced site. This was heard before the Annandale and Eskdale planning committee yesterday (15th. December )when it was deferred until the result of the previous appeal is known.I have objected to all possible authorities on behalf of The Solway Federation, and also I have taken the liberty of speaking for fanciers in Southern and Central Scotland and the North of England and I am in correspondence with all the legislating authorities.I hope members of this site will agree that the prospect of Peregrine Falcons hacking out from a large breeding centre on the Scottish Border does not bear contemplating. I am encouraged by the late entry into the field of The Buccleugh Estates as they have access to expensive legal advice.I do not expect a result on this until perhaps February 2011 but I will keep members updated.
Ian McKay Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Good for you Walter I hope you are successful with your objections :scotland:

yeboah Posted December 16, 2010 Report Posted December 16, 2010 Hi Walter ,i see from today's local paper that the applicant asked that the case be deferred until he new the legal conditions he would be allowed to operate under after an eleventh hour legal paper faxed by the buccleuch estates legal team ,one of the points were the guarantee of no outdoor training and possible chance of escape ,good to see the duke on board ,by the way i have been working not far from where they are being housed at present looks like a round silo storage tank with open top covered with green gauze mesh to a central apex hope we get two ton of snow
