Some of the STB models can be used thimbleless if racing under RPRA rules.

THIMBLELESS CLOCKS:

The following clocks may be used without

thimbles:

T2/T3 12 Bird Clock fitted with flaps

T2/T3 21 Bird Clock fitted with flaps

Junior 12 Micro Lite Front

STB (minimum 5 digits)

THIMBLELESS/FLAP LESS CLOCKS:

The following clocks may be used without

thimbles or flaps:

Benzing Paloma

Benzing Computer

Benzing Quartz

6-figure STB Quartz and Manual

can't see in rules where it allows stb 5 digit clocks or junior 12 micro ??? i'm looking at 2009 rules and the 3/12/10 rules review in bhw.

my clock is a five digit so it would be handy...but can't see it :(

found it in 2010 rules ....so looks like i may not need thimbles :emoticon-0157-sun: my clock is 69055...so should be ok. one question though...what stbs arn't you allowed to use thimbless??

You'll find it under Appendix D of the 2010 rule book (Page 21) http://www.rpra.org/...b7HpQ=&tabid=88

I can only presume clocks with 4 digits or less.

pm John at Formula1 lofts, think he'll know the answer.

A word of caution, this year on more than one occasion at clock checking a rubber that has been timed into a STB (as well as a Benzing) without a thimble has been dragged out of the relevant box chamber by the carriage doings. I would advise you to always use a thimble on your first timing. Better to be safe than sorry.
