i have put 2 spotlights in my back. when they light up, it shines directly into the lofts. will this disturb the birds of a night,or will it be ok? cheers, anthony.

ive heard that if the lights are activated at night the birds could fly down to drink, and if the lights go out before they fly up the birds cant get back to nests and youngsters or eggs could get chilled.

I have the same in my garden and with all the over lights from the houses round about have found it a good idea to use blinds in the loft, cane ones from Ikea do the job and are fairly cheap etc

Any sort of lighting will effect the racers, "rest before the test," is worth remembering. some kind of shutter is essential with "false lighting" during the hours of darknesss, but make sure they see more daylight hours, than dark. ;)

I have a  night light provided by the local authority for the birds as their accomodation is approximately 20 yards from a nice orange street light, I cant grumble it provides security as well as the opportunity for the birds to have a mid-night snack
