Nowt wrong with pairin at Xmas as long as you put the work in!!. You will have some crackin YBs come june but will have to be trained whilst yer racin yer OBs which can be time consuming. The benefit is that they will hold their body moult better in the late summer.

and if you pair much later less feed , and i found my naturals last year due to the bad weather were falling to bits before racing started so with this cold snap and weather weve been having in past years im going to leave mine very late on ;)

As has been said, there is nothing wrong with pairing early. However you will need to supply light so that the hours of darkness are reduced down to 8/10hours. This is to bring the old birds into proper breeding condition. Then you can produce some cracking youngsters. Again, as has already been said, the youngsters will have to be trained during the time you will be dealing with old bird racing, if you are wanting to take advantage of all your hard work. One of the risks you will be taking is that you could have a fly away, especially if you have these youngsters in tip top condition as I am sure you will.
