yeboah Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Without a question of a doubt,100% good health good system and above all why the top men are winning very very good pigeons ,For anyone who has read Mr Billy Wortley reports on the top performance winners from the nationals he sums it up in one final sentence THEY WERE BRED FOR THE JOB and he should no having witnessed nearly all of John Hodgsons seven national winners arriving from five hundred miles .
tommy2 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 I would have thought a good racing pigeon is a pigeon that races good, but then again there are plenty of sellers/dealers who can make up a beautiful pedigree out of fresh air,and even more fanciers who would buy it.sad but true
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 The only way really to find out if a pigeon is a good racer is to send it to races in the best order you can You could handle every national winner thats alive today and they're be very few of them that are the same.Theres big winners, theres wee winners, theres nice looking winners, theres ugly winners.Theres even winners that some "experts" would have had in the bin long before they saw the inside of a race basket.

neneland Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I think that you can go buy birds off the top flyers in the country and still not win. You can have the best birds but unless you know what you are doing, you have no chance! At the beginning of this year,(2010), I bought 9 birds, (8 off here), and they bred me youngsters that all flew the channel and were in the top 10 of a strong club and 44th section NFC. these birds all cost £15 each. I think you have to have a system that works for you, and good healthy birds to send. On top of this, you have to have patience and a willingness to sit and observe!
thomasd Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 the system is the main thing then the birds if the birds have it in them fitness and health dont over feed and under feed ive been in the sport for 3 years learned alot but i sill have a long way to go maybe i will get there maybe not main thing is to enjoy it.
