chrisbonnie Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 just wondering lads the day before we basket our birds, would it be more beneficial to feed a HIGH CARB food to the pigeons? or am i totally wrong, should it be a high protein mix
Guest IB Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 I'm interested in this question too. 'Carb loading' in days prior to basketing for the race has been recommended by many on the forum over the years. But my understanding is that it is 'fat' that provides the most energy? I think too much protein causes problems?
OLDYELLOW Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 all depends on the race distance most diets are more geared up towards carbs with protein in small quantitys , to me this is more sprint racing , 500 miles + more protein is needed

Wiley Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Im a big believer that you cannot put enough carbs into your birds in just 2-3 days!!

Guest strapper Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 a high protein intake will result in excess protein being stored in the body as fat! i race on a high protein mix young and old
