Surrey Flyer Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 What is hempcore? And where do you buy it from? How much? Sorry for the questions Bob
OLDYELLOW Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Must admit to coming round to hemcore, plus points for me are that it is (supposedly) dust-free and contains citronella a natural insect-repellant. I may have actually seen it in one of the Fed's baskets looked a bit like grass to me no pun intended. Have seen easi-bed at my supplier and in the Feds baskets and I don't like it - looks too easy to eat for my liking, and so-called dust-free woodshavings in Bedmax is anything but dust-free as you'll plainly see from the clouds of dust raised by birds in the baskets. another converted great stuff i used to scrape twice a day and once a day in winter great stuff birds love it and there never in fresh dropping can only be to the better of there health
OLDYELLOW Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 http://www.hemcore.co.uk/bedding.html around £8.60 a bale great value
jonjon Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 i like the idea of this myself for ybs and stock will work for dog he like his shaveings
Fair Play Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Must the fuel surcharge up here - I paid £9.90 for Hempcore normally £6.80 for Easibed
Guest scoobybob Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I bought 4 bails of hempcore today at a tenner a bail...I have only put 2 bails in a 10 x 8 loft but might drop another bail in next week. Don't it ever expand when you slit the bag. ;D

kev01293 Posted November 22, 2008 Author Report Posted November 22, 2008 well i cleared the loft floor yesterday of all the sand and replaced it with easibed when i went into the loft early this morning it felt warmer than it did when i used the kiln dried sand and the easibed it bone dry when i cleared the sand out i checked the floor right over but didnt find any damp spots anywhere so when the sand was getting damp before it was either from my boots or from the damp/rainy weather outside my loft i will be keeping a watch on the easibed but so far im well pleased with it and looking at some of my birds laying in it they obviously seem to like it as well when i think back i cant ever remember seeing my birds looking that comfortable in the sand kev :)
Wiley Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Easi-bed for me although I've never tried hempcore, if it aint broke dont try fixing it. have to agree love the stuff

Fair Play Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Went to get easibed but none in stock also noticed a large sign basically "Due to a shortage customers will be limited to Two(2) bags of shavings" hope this is not the thin edge of the wedge or hopefully just the christmas shutdown.
