showman Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Thinking of starting a website for the 'bits and pieces' I make...nestboxes,perches for pigeons ; breeding cages for canaries etc. Does anyone have any details or experience with 'free' websites , like are they really free ?? Who is the best etc, etc.I've had a bit of a Google search, but like most things out on the Web it's a bit of a nightmare sussing whats the best etc.Any help, as usual, would be much appreciated.Paul.

rasbull Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Hiya Showman. I have set up my own website/websites. The most important thing is the web address. This is something that you will have to purchase (around £10 for 2 years or something like that). If you are planning on selling products you plan making you will need to appear in search engines promptly and a clear, easy to remember website address is essential. If you want any advice on where and how to start please send me a PM for some tips. Free hosting is ok but has is limitations! Richard Shepherd

retired Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 I used free-webs for the one i created. It was a decent little site and took around a day to make and was quite pleased with it. The main thing i found with a free site is to avoid those that plaster all the advertising crap over each page etc etc. Brian Massey's site to me is a good bench mark for a free site.
