Hi all;

Was wondering how a club can manage to have both ETS and old timer in the same season. Was asking cause our club is shifting to ets clock and will keep the old one also but do not know how to manage the difference between both clocks.

to explain more;

do we have to keep pads inside the loft after the trap?

is there any other precaution or advise to make so both timing system have equal chances ??

thanks

Our club as 2 differant types of ETS and also 3 or 4 members that still use ordinary clocks,everything works well,not sure what you mean by how to manage between both lots of clocks,you will still find that the best flyer in your club will still be the same with ETS infact he is likely to be better as with ETS you tend to clock in more pigeons.There will never be a time when fanciers are on equal terms as it is all down to how good your birds are.if you live next door to another member and you have a bird each from the race if yours walks over a pad and is clocked whereas he as to go into the loft and take a rubber off and clock it in you cant really say that he,s on equal terms with you, but then again neither is a guy who as open door trapping ,or a speed trap against someone say who as a sputnick,as for leaving the pads inside the loft after trapping you could take them out after but most fanciers have them permently fitted inside the loft,I personally take mine out after the season as finished.At the end of the day its still all about getting your birds home first whatever clocking and trapping system you have.

thanks, what i meant is do you think there are equal chance for both ets and old timer (if same conditions apply to all) and is there any rules that club has to make to keep equal chances (as keeping the pad inside or pad location - inside or outside- has no difference).

I am asking cause if you think about it you find old timers need to catch the pigeon and take the rubber band out then inside the clock then clock it while ets it just clock by itself.

And if pad is left outside then trapping is not an issue for ets while still an issue for old timer.

The pad must be inside the loft, I think that is an ETS rule common to all Unions.

Been a few years ago, but a former flyer in our club flying an SNFC inland national race where club rule states ets rung birds must also be rubbered, timed his bird first on ETS system then timed using rubber with his STB clock. The time difference between the two was 6 secs.

Was his second clock set as a standby /duplicate clock?. i once clocked two rubbers in seperate thimbles in three seconds frae 500miles but there was two of us :lol::lol::lol:

I have my ets pads left in the loft ,have been since our club got lottery grant years ago

got 6mm ply top screwed over to keep clean also all sealed in position and secretary has copy

of all seal numbers ,thats the rules otherwise they could be moved onto landing board on race

day and that would be cheating ,no problems in our club as it is spread over a fifteen mile plus

radius ,one of our members still uses t3 and wins more than his share ,see birds got to be with

leaders . :D

ETS was his 1st clock, the STB was his standby.
