PIGEON_MAN Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I would also like to ask this question .. Still waiting for an answer ..People were asking the same thing over 50 years ago and we still dont know, had 2 birds return yesterday 1 from the first race on 24/7/2010 bye the look of his feathers would think he as been living rough, the other was lost 2 weeks ago looks as if this ones been in somewhere.
THE FIFER Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I think lots of birds join with the streeters and sometimes take it into their heads and come home, thats why the streeters are looking better birds now, lots of racing bird blood in them,
OLDYELLOW Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 alot of birds go down in the newly harvest fields when they get themselves right they head for home , or when there food source starts running down they return
Guest redlad24 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 got 1 back yesterday from the first race also, was in good condition, had a yb last year bout 50 days old, let them out 1 evening a hawk frightened them got them all in bar him, he was out for a few days, couldnt get him in, didnt see him anymore till i got a letter in the post reporting him in limerick about 90 miles away
lordcornwallis Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 iam convinced that pigeons lose there bearings and fly out to sea whole batches, due to radio signals which meddle with there homing instinct. sattalite and mobile phone signals increase every year and so do loses ever wonder that every so often pigeons turn up in oil rigs and ships.
