holmsidelofts Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Hi there. I use a similar product, its the green material they use around scaffolding, It does the same job but if you know someone in the trade you can get it for next to nothing or like me free.
blackdog Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 hi there, i have this netting on my stock bird aviary, it is good for keeping light rain out but if windy and heavy rain it will not stop it going in.
marmite Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 ty was just tryin to think of ways to let in more air i was gonna make all window spaces like air vents with timber but then thought it may b a bit dark so was thinkin of diff options ty 4 hlp so far
bewted Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 make window spaces like louvres.but, use plastic sheeting cut to measured size and will let in air and light ,,,hope that helps somehow !
marmite Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 good idea have got mesh behind plastic sheetin as i take it off in summer ill figure something out with that ty
pjc Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Put dowls or mesh over your openings and then make a hinged frame with perspex to act as an opening window! Lets light in can be opened for air and keeps rain out!
sapper756 Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Hi there. I use a similar product, its the green material they use around scaffolding, It does the same job but if you know someone in the trade you can get it for next to nothing or like me free. I also use scaffolding green mesh on my aviary, however was thinking of replacing it with the mesh from petron, as I would have expected it to be better :-/ now you have got me thinking :-/
Guest IB Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 I've the stuff from petron on my open doors, which were open mesh floor to ceiling and rain in an east wind just blew right through. As post says will deflect worst of rain, and cuts down on draughts. Also cuts out a lot of light too. Any future loft I have will have a 3/4 foot roof overhang at front, and 'set-back' front wall will be 90% mesh. I think thats the 'final solution' to light & air without rain coming in.
chickadee Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 A bit on the expensive side 2m x 1m £20 :-/ http://www.petron-lofts.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=29&products_id=482
marmite Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 think ive had a brainwave with plastic sheetin i got to make vents so will put pics on when ive done it in a cpl weeks time when ive got week off to build new stock loft lol
ribble Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 A good idea to stop the rain is put the mesh on the outside and also on the inside.
