Guest big slim Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 If shes survived 5 days i would leave her. Had a young cock last season i didnt think could survive but just left him and he made a full recovery.
alex wight Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 just let it heal and see how it goes. I had one this year after hitting a wire. She healed, but it must be hurting her as she comes late from short tosses. I,ll see how she goes next year.

Guest IB Posted August 19, 2010 Report Posted August 19, 2010 If it's any help I had something similar last year, the wound was fresh but the bird was so badly cut up that it was hard to get any grip on the skin with a stitch, and I couldn't tell which loose ends were meant to be together. Ended up cutting a tiny piece of duck tape that only just covered the hole but brought the ends together. Covered that in healing paste, put a cotton pad over that and sellotaped that to the feathers. No leaks, the bird recovered and she took an Open position in a 526 mile channel race earlier this year.
